(by Rick Dalton on Oct 17, 2015) The sheriff of Wicomico County Maryland, Mike Lewis, has been a staunch protector of the rights of those citizens who elected him. He has taken a stand to preserve the RTKBA against any further infringement.

“As long as I’m the sheriff in this county, I will not allow the federal government to come in here and strip my citizens of their right to bear arms. I can tell you this, if they attempt to do that, it would be an all-out civil war, no question about it.”

It was the above statement is that seemed to send the anti-gun group Coalition to Stop Gun Violence into a hissy fit. They claimed that Sheriff Lewis had threatened violence against the government, and had started a petition drive to demand the revocation of his teaching certification. “The campaign to revoke Lewis’ teaching certification began Monday, and as of about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, about 1,470 signatures had been collected via an online petition, said Ladd Everitt, director of communications for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, a Washington-based gun control group. “When you employ violence against your government essentially to affect policy decisions, you are damaging the principle of political equality,” Everitt said

CSPOA stands squarely behind Sheriff Lewis and will be contacting him to offer any assistance we might be able to give. Executive VP and Legislative Liaison Rick Dalton said

“There is such a thing as an unconstitutional law, and it is the sworn duty of peace officers and all elected officials to protect citizens from these laws also. And protecting them means standing between them and the domestic enemies of the Constitution. Sadly, some of these enemies are government officials.”
