The Criminal is Not the Victim

(By Rick Dalton 30 July 2016) In Lousiana last week, two felons were caught in a burglary, and a sheriff's deputy chased one of the suspects into a large warehouse. He encountered the perpetrator, who then pointed a gun at the deputy, and pulled the trigger. The gun malfunctioned, and the deputy fired in self-defense, killing the suspect. The suspect is not the victim.   There is security video available showing the entire incident. There was a press  conference wherein the Sheriff Norman explained the fortunate malfunction of the suspect's gun, and called  a spade a spade, and forcefully countered any notion that the death of the suspect makes him the victim.  To view the press conference, click HERE

Here's the account of the incident from the NY Daily News online outlet::

A Louisiana Sheriff on Wednesday said his deputy was “one of the luckiest men in America” after a suspect with the intent to shoot him had his gun malfunction.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand during a press conference said his deputy David Dalton could have been killed after he followed a 17-year-old suspect into a warehouse of The Times-Picayune late Tuesday night, CBS News reported.

Deputies arrived on the scene in response to a call about suspicious activity after someone called in a tip about two people “rolling shiny objects down the street.”

Surveillance video of the confrontation inside the New Orleans warehouse shows suspect Devon Martin run into the building, and then the deputy follows shortly after. The short clip, while it is blurry, appears to show the suspect raising his gun twice before Dalton fires off six shots of his own.

CSPOA regrets the loss of life, but we strongly encourage everyone who is involved in a confrontation with the police, to follow our suggestion:  Comply, don't Die.  And remember, the criminal is not the victim.
