(by CSPOA on Sep 1, 2015) Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr., CSPOA Sheriff of The Year for 2013, took the gloves off in his reaction to the murder of Harris County, Texas, Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth. On a recent Fox News program, Sheriff Clarke expressed his anger and frustration at the war on police that is growing in America.
He laid at last partial blame for this escalating violence on the Black Lives Matter movement, which has become increasingly extreme in its call for killing police. Clarke calls it the “black lies matter”, movement, because is it built on the falshehood of “hands up don’t shoot” describing the attack on police officer Darren Wilson by felon Michael Brown, which ended in Wilson killing Brown after a struggtle for the officer’s gun. Additionally, he placed partial blame on the whitehouse and the Obama justice department for inflammatory rhetoric that fueled the fires of violence.
CSPOA stands squarely on the side of the rule of law, and in sympathy with the thousands of peace officers who put their lives on the line, and increasingly, give their lives, to serve their communities. At the same time, we decry those very few officers who use excessive force and fail to serve their communities.
