Legislative Lowdown by Rick Dalton Feb 2024
As we all know, Americans should be on their best defensive posture for their rights, whenever the legislature is in session. And 2024 is certainly no exception. Sheriffs and other peace officers should monitor the legislature in their locality, and step in to defend citizen’s rights where appropriate.
These measures are in various stages of progress in their respective legislatures, and we have not checked on them individually in the past several days. That is homework for our Sheriffs and other supporters.
*Protecting Pedophiles is included in Democrat-Supported Plan in Congress. It's called the “equality act” and it’s dangerous!
*HB2239 (AZ) would establish and require the use of a portal to confirm the validity of a CCW presented to an FFL to skip NICS. A good bill to keep Les from making and/or keeping a database of firearms owners.
*Senate Bill 1160 (CA) California To Require ANNUAL Firearm “Registration” Just Like Your Vehicle
*Louisiana : Republican Governor Declares State Of Emergency Over Police Officer Shortage. Governor Jeff Landry (R-LA) declared a state of emergency in Louisiana on Friday over a shortage of law enforcement officers in the state. Landry’s order comes as cities around the country have struggled to retain police officers and recruit amid increasing crime and a push by some activists to “Defund the Police.” Some entities are even considering letting non-citizens join the ranks of the police.
S3589 (Fed) This bill establishes a federal statutory framework to prohibit certain conduct involving actions as a part of (or on behalf of) a private paramilitary organization while armed. An individual who violates the prohibition is subject to criminal penalties. The bill also authorizes civil remedies. This bill could prohibit armed church security teams. CSPOA opposes it in current form.

*SB1003 (AZ), a bill to prohibit photo radar and other photo enforcement in Arizona has passed the senate, was transmitted to the house, and was assigned to the Transportation and Infrastructure, and Rules, committees in the house.
HB4876 (IL) A new bill proposed in Illinois would change the state’s definition of “abused child” to include children whose parents or guardians object to them having transgender surgeries, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and abortions. CSPOA strongly opposes this blatant abuse of parental rights!
We invite all our members and supporters to monitor the legislation in their localities and to notify heir local sheriff or other LEO of any violations of Constitutional rights. Remember a proposed bad law prevented is much more desirable than the task of repealing and/or litigating it once enacted.
