(Posted by Rick Dalton on Sep 20, 2015) I had a great trip this past weekend to south Georgia for the Peace in Unity Rally. This is the brainchild of Officer Billy Ray Fields Jr., of Ocilla PD in Georgia. The event was held in Douglas, GA, and we had a great time. CSPOA is proud to support this positive movement in the US.

Billy Ray’s idea was a way to bring the police and community together and stop the hatred and bad feelings between police and citizens.The activities included a basketball tournament and barbeque on Saturday, and a “Pack the Park” day on Sunday that featured a “dunk-a-cop” game, police and fire demonstrations, and great food. In addition, Sponge Bob and Mickey Mouse made an appearance!

It was also a pleasure to meet Billy’s parents. His father, Billy Ray Fields Sr., was a police officer, sheriff’s deputy and chief of police in a neighboring town. That’s a great background to come from, as both his parents served the state of Georgia in government positions.
